Overview of the School

Kyondoni Girls’ High school is now a public extra county girls’ boarding secondary school with a rich heritage spanning over 42 years. It is located in a beautiful and serene rural environment in Kyondoni village, about 7 minutes’ drive from Kabati town and about 5 km Kabati- Tulia-Mwingi road, Kitui-West sub-county, Kitui County, Kenya.

The school was founded in the year 1978 as a Harambee school by the members of the community under the sponsorship of Africa Inland Church (A.I.C).

Kyondoni Girls’ High School has grown over the years to a five-streamed school in form one and two and a four-stream in form three and four with a population of about 920 students and it possesses sufficient basic facilities necessary for learning. It provides quality and holistic education and nurtures students’ discipline, character, leadership and spiritual principles while instilling values in them.

Through this, the school has been able to take a good number of students to universities, many to colleges and has produced individuals that serve in various positions in Kenya as well as self- reliant women of integrity.

Kyondoni Girls’ High School is currently headed by Senior Principal, Mrs Aphia Somba and Mrs Judith Kimeu as the Deputy principal. It has a professional staff of 44 teachers who are dedicated to helping students discover their full potential and a support staff who number 23.
